A European Union and the International Monetary Fund bailout package for Portugal could be as much as EUR90 billion paid out in phases before and after the country's June 5 elections, a senior cabinet minister from a euro-zone country said Thursday.
"The talk is for around EUR75 billion, but this could be raised to around EUR90 billion. A bailout package can be put together very quickly as there has already been preparatory work in anticipation of Portugal's request," the minister told Dow Jones Newswires.
EU executive arm the European Commission and the Eurogroup forum of finance ministers feel EUR75 billion is an appropriate bailout figure, he said. "One thi   ng is certain: the euro zone will not leave Portugal to sink under any circumstances," said this source, who has been a party to early aid discussions in anticipation of a Portugal request.
Running out of money and paralyzed by a political crisis, Portugal said Wednesday it would ask its peers for a financial bailout--setting up a crucial test of the euro zone's efforts to contain its sovereign-debt crisis and protect the euro.
Portugal is the third nation after Greece and Ireland in the 17-member currency bloc to turn to its peers for help, after concerns over the country's heavy debt burden triggered a series of downgrades in its credit ratings.
The minister, who asked not to be identified, said the EU and the IMF must be creative in their planning as Portugal has no elective government with which to negotiate. "[Caretaker prime minister Jose] Socrates has not specified how immediate the financing need is. If there is a need for funds before the election, we must be creative in our thinking which means we can maybe split the bailout, with some money going to Lisbon before the election and the remainder after the election," he said. "It is an unprecedented situation. We have a euro-zone partner in need but not a government with a popular mandate to negotiate with."

У меня устойчивое ощущение, что сегодняшнее ожидаемое повышение ставки от Трише станет событием продажи новостей (sell the news). Прыжок выше 1.44 должен расцениваться именно с этой позиции.  Интересно ведь, что будет если Зидан рынок продолжит забивать?
